3/2/2010 — This Week in Gaming
By: Andrew Triplett
One-sixth done! That’s how far this year’s gone by already! Ballparks around the US are lighting up for the new season and franks are more than just names.
This past week has been rather eventful in the gaming community. The PS3 has been brought to it’s knees for a full day due to some silly leap year error, a couple big suits were put on the chopping block at Activision (the people behind the best-selling game in history, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) and the demo for God of War 3 hit the Playstation Network.
Along with the big news, there’s some big games releasing this week. Here, take a look:

Supreme Commander releases it’s second title this week. Garnering some decent reviews, this game brings huge maps, slick gameplay (both off- and online) and a robust campaign. Although the AI leaves something to be desired, you can look into this strategy game to keep you busy until the Starcraft bug bites you! | |||||||

| The Playstation’s flagship baseball game graces us again this week. You can find this title on the PS2, PS3 and PSP. You’ll notice some improved online gameplay along with some new game modes. You’ll be able to call the shots as the manager and/or catcher. Home run derbies are now available during the season’s all-star week. | ||||||||
| Battlefield: Bad Company 2 | ||||||||

***GAME OF THE WEEK*** After a fairly decent release, EA sends out another Battlefield: Bad Company title. EA is touting this game as a direct competitor and even better (at least, in their eyes) than the wildly popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This game is receiving some pretty good reviews through Metacritic regarding it’s gameplay and multiplayer aspects. The graphics look solid and the game looks pretty polished. With CoD:MW2 so bug-ridden as of late, this could be Bad Company 2’s chance to take the upper hand and become king of the FPS hill. |

Not a bad lineup, eh? For you baseball fans, The Show ought to keep you happy and occupied. If you don’t have any Playstation consoles, take a look at Major League Baseball 2K10. This is widely available and should prove a pretty decent baseball game. Even with these excellent games, this is only a primer for what’s coming out next week. You better stay tuned to find out what blockbuster games are coming out next time!
